Jurby Junk, a store known by visitors to the island from around the world, will close for good next month.
After initially closing last year, Jurby Junk reopened as owner Stella Pixton tried to sell some of her vast range of stock and books.
Stella has confirmed that Tuesday, September 18 will see the iconic store close its doors for the final time.
She had previously told us that Jurby Junk was scheduled to close on September 1, following the conclusion of the 2018 Festival of Motorcycling.
With the help of her friends Penny McDonough and her husband Jim who live in Ramsey, Stella is preparing to move on with her life.
Penny has previously said: ’It’s not a retirement, Stella says the cost of running the business is too high.
’She’s planning on finishing her second book and enjoying her art too.’
Stella has previously written a book on her father Howard Pixton who was a renowned and innovative pilot before and during the first world war.
Penny added: ’I just want to help Stella achieve her goal now, a good ending with closure.
’Even if she can’t sell as much as she’d like to, she’ll be able to walk away happy with what she had done.
’In the whole time she’s been here, she’s bought, stocked, priced and sold it all herself.
’Jurby Junk and the bookshop are still going and there are some real gems in there.’
During TT this year, Stella was visited daily by tourists from around the world, which she said she will miss meeting the old faces who come back each year and new visitors to Jurby Junk.
Stella confirmed to the Manx Independent that to prepare for the closure, she is in the process of selling books in bundles, with themes ranging from cook books to history and fiction books.
