This year will mark the 30th birthday of carers’ charity Crossroads Care and to celebrate the milestone some of our island’s landmarks will be turning themselves blue.

From Monday, January 8, the Tower of Refuge, Ramsey Swing Bridge and the local power stations will be lit blue.

This will help Crossroads mark the anniversary of the start of its support for local people with disabilities and care needs, and the people who look after them.

Manx National Heritage has also offered to turn its Facebook page blue to celebrate local carers and 30 years of Crossroads.

Crossroads provides lots of services to lots of people all over the island, including a nursery for children with disabilities, an employment project for adults with learning difficulties, a young carers project and domiciliary care for people who need help at home.

A year of awareness-raising and events is planned and includes an open fundraising committee meeting at the British Hotel in Douglas on January 29 starting at 6pm.
