Large crowds are expected to descend on the east of the island this weekend for an annual Christmas market.
More than 70 crafters, artisan producers and market stall holders will fill four separate venues for the Laxey Village Christmas Market over the weekend, with organisers promising that this year’s popular festive event will be the biggest and best yet.
Festive goods will be available between 10am and 4pm at the Laxey Working Men’s Institute, the Laxey Glen Pavillion and inside Christ Church, alongside a new venue, the MER tram station, for 2020.
’This year promises to be bigger and better than ever with even more stalls over the weekend within the MER station building and Christ Church, along with the Laxey Working Men’s Institute where Father Christmas can be found in his grotto,’ said organiser Sarah Henthorn.
’Along with more than 70 craft and artisan stalls within the village, there will be delicious homemade cakes and hot food available in the Institute.
’Many local businesses are joining the fabulous festive fair, with additional opening over the weekend.’
Many of Laxey’s usual attractions will be in service for the weekend, including the Laxey Mines Railway.
The market at the Laxey Institute costs £1 to enter for the whole weekend, with proceeds going towards the building.
Last year’s event saw thousands of people attend the markets.
