Staff at a law firm planted 150 trees in Maughold as part of their support of the Isle of Man Woodland Trust.

Manx native oak, hawthorn, alder, hazel and downy birch were among the species planted by the DQ team.

Trust members showed them how to plant the saplings.

The Isle of Man Woodland Trust was created to maintain, protect and expand Manx forests in 2005 and has now planted more than 33,000 trees.

Currently, just 6% of the Isle of Man is woodland as a proportion of landmass, compared with 13% of the United Kingdom and 44% of continental Europe.

DQ managing director Mark Dougherty said: ’Creating new woodlands really can provide valuable wildlife habitats and increase the island’s natural capital, increasing biodiversity and leaving a legacy for future generations.’
