A lawyer is going to lead an investigation into what happened in the crash in which TT rider Steve Mercer was badly injured.

Rob Jones, a former chief executive of the Motor Sports Association, will look at what happened and what lessons can be learned.

The incident, which happened on May 30, involved Mercer’s bike and a course car which was on the way to an incident in which Dan Kneen died in TT practices.

Mr Jones will conduct the inquiry on behalf of ACU Events, which runs the TT.

Mercer remains in hospital in Liverpool.
