A donation from Barclays will enable the Children’s Centre to offer a wider variety of study options for young people using its learning support service.
The service provides personal development opportunities for young people taking the next steps in their careers and people returning to work after a long-term illness.
Janet Bailey, charitable services manager atThe Children’s Centre, said: ’We’re a very community focused organisation and this donation from Barclays is vital for us to help young people reach their full potential.
’Through the learning support service young people can receive tailored advice to help them with different areas such as ICT skills or CV writing. Our link workers can create individual programmes to follow, including nationally-recognised qualifications, to help them achieve their career goals.’
The contribution from Barclays will enable link-workers to offer a wider variety of learning options for young people including the Open Awards Functional Skills qualifications, which help participants explore volunteering and horticulture roles.
Ian Pilley from Barclays said: ’Barclays is committed to helping young people gain access to the vital skills they need to get into work.
’We hope this donation will support young people in the Isle of Man achieve this.’
