The British Red Cross received £2,594 from the annual Northern Churches Lent Lunches.

Martin Birchenough, of the Red Cross, said; ’Our new Independent Living service, called "Support at Home" will match volunteers with people who need a bit of help, for a short period of time, so that they can get back on their feet and regain their independence.

’We’re going to roll it out in the south of the island initially and hope it will be well received.

’We are tremendously grateful for this fantastic vote of confidence by the Northern Churches and all of their generous parishioners and friends.’
