Green-fingered residents were out in force at Cronk y Voddy Produce Show at Ballakaighen Road, Staarvey Farm.

The Best in Show Blue Ribband award was scooped by Ian Watterson with his impressive collection of vegetables.

Other prize winners included; Dorothy Faragher who won the best flowers award, Audrey Corrin, who won best preserves, Kath Harvey, who was winner of the best confectionary award and John Parslow who won the best photo category.

The children’s prize went to Dan Parslow.

The big spud competition attracted 66 entries with Leslie Halsall triumphant with a winning weight of just over 18 pounds.

Runner-up was Dorothy Faragher with a weight of 17 pounds.

Kenneth Kewley was the winner in the straw rope making competition, with Percy Faragher coming second and Bob Kewley taking third.

Kenneth also took the title for lanket making, beating Rebecca Kewley into second place, with Bob Kewley coming third.

Bob Kewley won the thumb rope category with Kenneth Kewley second and a team effort by the Devereaux children coming third.

Kenneth Kewley also took the Chris Parks Memorial Trophy as the overall winner in the rope making section.
