Douglas RNLI lifeboat was launched last night to go to the aid of an ill seaman.

A report was received from a vessel just off Laxey that one of the crew had been taken ill and needed hospital treatment.

The Douglas all-weather lifeboat, Sir William Hillary, under the command of volunteer coxswain Neal Corran made contact with the casualty’s vessel off Clay Head where the ill seaman was transferred to the lifeboat.

The lifeboat then returned to its temporary station on the liner berth in Douglas harbour where an ambulance was waiting to take the casualty seaman to Noble’s Hospital.
