Isle of Man Lions Club, through its Manx Children in Need appeal, is holding a fun fundraising week.

It will run from October 26 until November 1.

Firms, offices, banks, schools, organisations and individuals are being invited to take part in any fun way that they can think of.

It’s all about helping the Manx Children in Need appeal help island families through what is a turbulent time because of coronavirus.

Part of the money raised will go to providing schools with an emergency fund to help those children whose families are finding it difficult to buy school uniforms or other necessary supplies.

Other funds will provide vouchers to buy food for those families who are struggling in the run-up to Christmas.

Organisers hope this is where the Manx Children in Need appeal can come into its own.

A spokesman said: ’It is easy to imagine because the island has been relatively unscathed throughout the pandemic that it has not affected the livelihoods of people living here. In fact, the opposite is true.

’Working people have been laid off and some are still, because of health problems, unable to get back to their normal routine.’

Roy Wilson from the Lions Club added: ’With help from the Manx public we hope that the Fun Fund Raising Week 2020 will not only provide the funds to carry out our objectives but also give people the opportunity to use their imagination to come up with fun, novel and inventive ways of helping those less fortunate than themselves.’

All Lions Club members are volunteers so 100% of money raised go to the Manx Children in Need appeal.
