Andreas Village Hall was packed with feathery and furry friends that were judged as part of an annual show.

Members of the public got a good glimpse at a number of guinea pigs, lizards, zebra finches, chickens, pigeons, cats and other animals that had been entered into Ramsey Fur and Feather Society’s annual show on Sunday.

Classes included rare breeds of animals, as well as best eggs, Manx kittens and other varieties of cats, breeders and non-breeders plus others.

Judges included: Joe Harrison of Blackburn in Lancashire, judge of the poultry section; John Quayle of Jurby, judge of the pigeon section; Andy Warmsley of Blackpool, judge of the cage birds section; Barry Carder of Ballaugh, judge of the cavies section; and Dorothy Faragher of Castletown, judge of the cats classes.

Alan Preston’s Old English Game rooster was crowned best in show and Nigel Taylor’s female Sumatra Bantam received reserve best in show.

Mr Preston also had success in the pigeon class with his working homer.

Winner of the cavies class was eight-year-old Eva Moore with her smooth coat guinea pig named Winnie.

Meanwhile, the winner of the cage bird class was Harry Lennon with his Fife canary.

Presenting the trophies was Andreas Commissioners chairman Jim Allison.
