An island painter-based portrait artist has unveiled her latest painting.

Svetlana Cameron presented her latest portrait, of General Sir Timothy Granville-Chapman, the 31st Master Gunner St James’ Park at an event at the Royal Artillery Regiment home in Larkhill, Wiltshire in front of an audience of nearly 100 guests.

The painting of the Master Gunner, a position whose appointment is approved by the Queen, is an unbroken tradition which has lasted since 1678, and Svetlana’s latest portrait, officially commissioned by the Royal Artillery Institution, will hang on the walls of Larkhill along with those of his predecessors.

This unveiling marks the end of a highly successful and productive year for the Russian-born Manx resident.

Already regarded as one of the finest portrait artists in the world, she presented a portrait of the world-famous ballerina Natalia Osipova to the Sophia Contemporary Gallery in Mayfair, London in July this year, and also won a prestigious global art competition, ’Strokes Of Genius’, with a portrait entitled ’Sophia’.

Svetlana, who was awarded the title of ’Associated Master Painter’ in the USA, also held an exhibition of her work and limited edition prints at the Neville Johnson and Tom Howley flagship showroom in Marylebone, London during September.

The exhibition featured some of Svetlana’s most popular award-winning portraits, borrowed from private collection.
