A local cartoonist has published a digital book showcasing the second Manx lockdown.
Philip Woodford has created ’Lockdown Laughs’ in an attempt to help raise spirits in the island.
With assistance from his son, Robert, who has assembled the material for the book, it is available to buy on Amazon.
Mr Woodford trained as a lithographer at the Hull School of Art in the 1950s and he began drawing cartoons to entertain his workmates.
He moved to the island in 1967 and drew cartoons for local newspapers from 1973 until the late 2000s, most recently a weekly cartoon for the Isle of Man Examiner.
Mr Woodford’s cartoons feature on the iMuseum online, in a exhibition entitled ’Have I Got News For Yessir! The Cartoons of Phil Woodford’.
He said: ’It (the book) was Robert’s idea really, he helped me to collate everything together.
’Although Covid isn’t funny in the slightest, there’s a funny side to almost everything else.
’I’ve done 40 cartoons overall for this book and I can’t stop now!’
Both Philip and Robert Woodford said that they hope that the content will raise a smile or two.
