Amended and additional plans have been submitted as part of an application to bring luxury camping to Glen Wyllin campsite.

Glen Wyllin Camping (2016) Limited want to install eight log cabins, eight camping pods and two yurts.

The proposal (17/00386/B) includes creating a designated car parking area for campers with tents. At the moment, vehicles tend to park on the grass verges. In addition, they want to extend the camping season from February to November.

At the moment they have approval to operate from April to September.

In a planning statement, it explains that one of the company’s ’key objectives’ is ’to bring the campsite into the modern era of ’glamping’, improve facilities for campers and offer family events as well, including having a viable business throughout the year.’

And it outlines that by extending the camping season, the site will be able to operate glamping events for Valentine’s Day and increase tourism in the island.

The proposal is expected to reduce the number of vehicle movements to and from the site.

Michael Commissioners objected to the original planning application in May.
