A lavish production of one of Shakespeare’s greatest plays will be brought to the Isle of Man by an international touring company later this year.
Macbeth will be performed on the Gaiety Theatre stage by TNT Theatre on Friday, April 5, with two performances at 11am and 7.30pm.
TNT, presented by the ADG Europe theatre group, who put on the Shakespeare in the Castle tour each summer on the island, debuted the production in 2001, and since then they have taken it across the world, performing it to 40 countries and across four continents.
This production is directed by Paul Stebbings and will star Martin Christopher as the titular Scottish knight, who is seduced and corrupted by power, and murders his way to the Scottish crown, encouraged by his ambitious and scheming wife, Lady Macbeth, played by Kelly Griffiths.
They are joined by Gareth Fordred, Stephanie Crome, Oliver Davis and Will Douglas.
The production is described as a ’full-blooded version, driven in it is intensity and not frightened of the supernatural, nor compromised by modern dress’.
Tickets are £5 for students for the early performance, and £25 for adults and £14 concessions for the evening play, available from villagaiety.com.
It is supported by the Isle of Man Arts Council, Manx National Heritage and Tower insurance.
