All the mystery and magic of Mann will be brought to the stage in Peel next weekend, for a special concert featuring some of the island’s top magicians.

Organised by the Friends of the Peel Centenary Centre, and produced by the top Manx magician, Mike Clague, the evening will feature six of the island’s most dazzling and mesmerising masters of slight of hand, conjuring and mysterious magic tricks.

All those taking part are members of the Magicians of Mann, and feature some well-known, award-winning talented performers, including Colin Beaumont, Chris Burns, Paul Martin, Lexi Dernie and the mother-and-son team of Rosalie and Giles Beaumont

Mike Clague, who is an Associate of The Inner Magic Circle in London, said the magicians are looking forward to welcoming ’muggles’ into the centre, and to give them a glimpse of their talents.

’Colin Boardman was Young Magician of the Year when a youngster,’ said Mike,

’He has been a professional magician, well known on the Island, for many years.

And, like Colin, Paul Martin has won the Magician of Mann award, as has Chris Burns from Peel.

’Their acts are very different in style, though. Paul, as well as being an expert in performing wonderful tricks with playing cards, is very interested in the magic of the mind.

’Chris Burns from Peel is well known as a character magician,’ continued Mike, ’Laughter is always guaranteed throughout his act, as well as mystery.

’Mother and son magicians Rosalie and Giles Beaumont will be performing separately on this occasion.

’Giles, since leaving the Young Magicians of Mann when the club for young people closed in 2016, is fast earning a reputation for entertaining at dinners and receptions, and is looking forward to returning to the stage.

’He has been training his pet card-playing dragon, which might perform miracles with playing cards, if it doesn’t burn them first!

’Lexi Dernie won third place in the same internationally important competition in 2007, and is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

She loves entertaining children, and has recently returned from her honeymoon in Ecuador.’

Tickets for the show, which takes place on Saturday, September 23, are £10, with tickets for children priced at £6, available from Peter Norris Music, in Douglas, Celtic Gold, in Peel, Shakti Mann, in Ramsey, Thompson Travel, in Port Erin or online from centenarycentre.com

The magic, mystery and mayhem begins at 7.30pm.
