High-octane punk rock and rollers Mad Daddy are enjoying a great amount of radio play across the world, prior to the release of their debut album.

The local four-piece, featuring singer and lyricist Dolyn Clucas-Morris, bassist James ’Elvis Palooka’, drummer Matt Twist and guitarist Liam Callow, will unveil their long-awaited self-titled, 10-track album tomorrow on a multiple of formats, including CD and vinyl.

Already their songs have been picked up by respected DJs in the UK, America and Australia, gaining the band airplay, fans and positive feedback in the run-up to the release.

Probably the most valued support came from a legendary voice of American rock and roll, American DJ Rodney Bingenheimer, an early champion of the Ramones and someone who called Elvis Presley a personal friend.

’He played the single "Ride With Me" not once, but twice last night on his "Rodney on the Rock" show on The Underground Garage in Los Angeles,’ said Dolyn.

’That’s pretty amazing and I quite can’t get my head around that. That’s a real honour.’

All across the board, the album has been gaining great reviews, including the magazine Vive Le Rock and Louder Than War, who described it as ’probably the best all-energy, full-throttle punk rock’*’roll blues debut you will hear all year.’

’The critics definitely seemed to have liked it and the reception we’ve had so far has been great’ said Dolyn.

’Our music is all about the energy and how you play it.

’We’re not trying to be original or to break the wheel or anything. Its high-energy, good-time rock and roll.

Denied the chance to get across to the UK to promote the album properly, the group have decided to put their energy into creating professional music videos, along side Open Water Films for their first two singles, ’Give it To Me’ and ’Just You Wait’, with a third one on the way for their latest single ’Ride With Me’.

’The videos are a great way of promoting your music and the better they are, the more they catch your eye,’ he said.

’Mad Daddy’ will be available from maddaddy.bandcamp.com from tomorrow (Friday), as well as from Sound Records in Douglas.
