Ian Saunders, aged 64, of Strathallan Crescent, Douglas, has appeared in court charged with possessing a bladed article in a public place.
The offence is alleged to have been committed on April 30.
He was represented in court by advocate Paul Glover who asked for an adjournment until June 20, saying that a psychiatric assessment was due to take place.
Bail continues.
