The new deputy airport director at Ronaldsway will be a familiar face to many TV viewers.
And could Jeremy Spake’s landing at Isle of Man Airport mean we could see a fly in the wall documentary about operations there?
Jeremy, complete with his trademark walkie talkie, found fame when he appeared in the reality TV show Airport in the late 1990s.
The show provided a behind the scenes look at Heathrow when Jeremy was at that time the ground services manager for Russian state airline Aeroflot.
Since then, the fluent Russian speaker has written two books and presented and appeared in a series of shows for television.
The 49-year-old took over last week from current Ronaldsway operations manager Paul Clarkson who has retired.
It’s certainly on rather a different scale than his job at Heathrow.
The post was advertised earlier this year with a closing date of May 22.
Jeremy will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the airport, controlling the revenue and capital budgets, and producing the annual business plan.
Airport director Ann Reynolds said: ’My deputy is retiring and after following recruitment process Jez Spake was the successful applicant.
’He’s an airline and airport professional.
’He’s not here as a celebrity.’
