A 58-year-old man has appeared in court charged with pretending to be a healthcare professional.

Stephen Mark Dobbs, of Circular Road, Douglas, asked to stand outside the court dock and for the court to address him as ’Stephen’.

He said he had come to court to ask for the information regarding the allegation.

Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told the court that Dobbs is accused of describing himself as an osteopath without being fully registered as one, between February 2017 and June 2021.

Dobbs opted to represent himself in court and asked for a two-week adjournment, which was granted by Deputy High Bailiff Chris Arrowsmith.

Bail was granted and the case adjourned until November 16.
