With the Manx Grand Prix now upon us, as with TT the various bands of the island are out and about entertaining the crowds.

One such band is Borderline who keep up their pretty relentless schedule of live dates. Sighting influences from the likes of Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Robert Cray, Albert King, BB King, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, and Jerry Lee Lewis, the band features Heinrich Koop, Keith Randall, Alan Presford and Nigel Johnson in their line-up are well worth checking out if the aforementioned influences do it for you.

The band appears at The Queen’s in Laxey on Friday and at Bar Logo in Ramsey on Saturday.

Elsewhere The Devil Note is out and about.

Featuring Simon Campbell on guitar with Suzy Starlite on bass, and with both sharing the vocal duties, the band is a nod to the British Blues and Rock explosion of the 60s and early 70s.

Expect cuts from the likes of John Mayall and The Bluesbreakers, Eric Clapton, Humble Pie, Cream and Free alongside pieces by Focus, B.B. King, ZZ Top and David Bowie.

The band appears at the Okell’s Beer Tent at The Grandstand on Friday night, followed by The Queens in Douglas on Sunday night and then at The Highwayman in Peel next Tuesday.

Also appearing at the Okell’s Beer Tent this week is Lost Dogs, the very new Manx Pearl Jam tribute band, who’s line-up features John Cleator on vocals, Dick Raine on bass, Kev Cleator and Alex Duke sharing guitar duties and Jonny Peacock on drums.

Expect the likes of Even Flow, Jeremy, Betterman, Rearviewmirror, Given To Fly, State Of Love and Trust and Once amongst a fairly wide sweep across the various Pearl Jam albums.

Finally this week we have a look at two of the bands featuring keys player Dave Holland.

First up is Kick It.

Featuring Dave on keys, Lauren Simpson on vocals and Stan Puzzar on drums, the band specialise in all things soul and some current chart material too.

The band head to Sam Webb’s this Thursday night and The Queens in Douglas on Saturday.

That’s just a small peak at what’s going on out there over the next few days. For further information on other live dates taking place please visit the ’ttgigs’ Facebook page. That’s all for this week!
