An album featuring two Manx-based musicians has been nominated for a prestigious European Music award.

Simon Campbell and Suzy Starlite, the two prime members of the Starlite Campbell band, said they were surprised to find that their debut recording, ’Blueberry Pie’, had made the shortlist for Best Album/Recorded session of 2017 category in the European Blues Awards.

Recorded at Simon’s own ’Supertone Record Studios’, which is currently based in Spain, and released through the Supertone record label, Suzy Starlite and former British Blues Awards nominee Simon Campbell said they were ’humbled and doubly excited about being nominated’, after having written, performed, recorded, engineered and produced the album.

They describe their band, and the album ’Blueberry Pie’ as a fresh taste of British Blues, inspired by the mid-to-late 60s electric blues with a contemporary fusion of rock and folk.

In a further mark of their achievement, not only are the band the only Manx act ever to have been named in the European Blues awards, they are the only band from the British isles to be nominated this year.

Simon Campbell said: ’So far, "Blueberry Pie" has been critically acclaimed worldwide with more than 36 four and five-star reviews plus thousands of plays on over 750 radio stations across the globe.

’As the only British band nominated in this category, any support we get means a lot in voting for us and helping to bring the award home to the island.’

The award is decided by public vote. You can cast your support for ’Blueberry Pie’ at europeanbluesawards.wordpress.com

The voting closes on Sunday, November 12.
