There will be a Manx presence at a Welsh folk and culture festival this weekend.

The local traditional folk dance groups Skeddan Jiarg (above) and Perree Bane will both perform at the the Cwlwem Celtaidd InterCeltic festival of Wales, in Porthcawl, South Wales between tomorrow (Friday) and Sunday.

Both groups will perform several shows throughout the weekend in the main concert venue, the High Tide ballroom, along with making visits to local schools.

There will also be a Manx music session and folk dance workshops.

The festival will also feature a headline concert fom the Welsh dance folk band Jamie Smith’s Mabon, featuring Peel residents Jamie Smith and Paul Rogers, along with a short performance from an all-girl singing group, ’Little Manx’, who will sing a range of children’s songs in Manx Gaelic.

The festival will also feature music from around the Celtic countries, including Scots pipe bands and the Welsh pop-folk group Rusty Shackle.
