The Manx Dialect Group will be holding its annual general meeting at the Tynwald Inn, St John’s, on Saturday (March 18), starting at 8pm.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

The group has enjoyed a successful year, with gatherings held around the island in Peel, Lezayre, Douglas Legion Club and Rushen Football Club.

Organiser Ned Kennaugh said: ’The meetings have worked out well and we now have plans to expand into the wider community, and also into schools.

’Of course, there’s people in the north who won’t agree with how they speak in the south but that’s how it should be.’

Plans for the future include speaking to people about their memories of Sunday school outings in the 1950s and 60s, and also for an evening of telling stories by the fireside next winter.
