This Saturday sees the technical metal beast that is Aeons return to the stage at Amber in Douglas.
A band whose line-up is made up by ex-members of The Water is Rising and The Southern Audio Conspiracy namely Justin on drums, Joe on bass, Scott and Si on guitars and Skippy on vocals, the band has been a little quiet of late and pick their live dates with some precision.
Support for this show comes from the excellent The Fletcher Christian Mutiny.
Following their ’Scraps From The Table EP’ release back in August of this year, the band, namely Nell Kneale and Justine Lewis on guitars, Stephen Quinn on drums, Keef Lawler on vocals and Andrew Cregeen on bass, also delve around the heavier end of the musical spectrum and claim influences along the lines of System Of A Down, Black Sabbath, In Flames and Metallica.
The doors for this free show open at 8pm with The Fletcher Christian Mutiny opening the proceedings just after 9pm.
If the classic tunes of the 80s heyday is your kind of thing, then you may want to head to Jaks on Friday night where you’ll find the ’Totally 80s’ band in action.
Cuts from the likes of Duran Duran, Human League, A-ha and Madness (and that’s merely scratching the surface) will be aired by the band that counts Dave Holland on Vocals and Keys, John Barlow on Guitar and Vocals, Johnny Galbraith on Bass and Jonny Peacock on Drums in their line-up.
The band hit the stage from around 9.45pm onwards.
Head South to Port Erin, to The Falcon’s Nest and to Talons in particular this Saturday night and you’ll be able to catch The Devil Note in action.
Featuring Simon Campbell on guitar with Suzy Starlite on bass and both sharing the vocal duties, the band very much touts itself as a nod to the British Blues and Rock explosion of the 60s. Expect cuts from the likes of John Mayall and The Bluesbreakers, Eric Clapton, Humble Pie, Cream and Free alongside pieces by Focus, B.B. King, ZZ Top, David Bowie and T-Rex.
The music kicks off from around 9.30pm and it’s free entry.
The band has a number of live dates coming up and further information can be found at Facebook.com/the.devil.note.
Head to The Railway in Douglas this Saturday and you’ll find Mae Challis and her band in attendance.
Joined by Mark Brabbs on drums, Robbie Sampson on bass, along with guest guitarist, Mark ’D’ Smith, filling in for Kev Cleator, Mae lists her influences from Queen, Oasis, KT Tunstall and Joni Mitchell to Coldplay, Train, James Morrison, Skrillex, Bruno Mars and Emeli Sande.
It all kicks off from 8.30pm onwards. You can follow Mae at Facebook.com/maechallismusic. That’s all for now!
