It’s a busy one out there this weekend with a large number of our bands and singer songwriters out and about and entertaining the hordes around the island.

First we head west to Peel and to the Creek where Ironclad are lined up to play a hometown show on Saturday.

The band has been doing the rounds of the Manx live scene for a good while now and feature Owain Brimfield on vocals and guitar, Jason Cain on guitar, Ivan Jackson on bass and Keith Harris on drums.

Starting out as a cover band, they’ve now morphed into an originals outfit and pick out their influences from the likes of Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Pantera and more into a blend of modern thrash.

The band hit the stage just after 9pm and it’s free entry.

Heading south now and to Secret Pizza in Castletown, where Total Rockabilly will be in attendance tomorrow night (Friday) from 7pm.

With three guys named John, Barlow on vocals and guitar, Peacock on drums and G on double bass, they combine classic 80’s Rockabilly with a smattering of jump and swing interpretations of more recent pop, rock and punk styles.

Now we head back up to Douglas and to Jaks where on Friday you’ll be able to see Penthouse Dive in action at one of their regular gigs at the venue.

The three-piece band that features Mark Riley on guitar and vocals, Mark Cleator on bass and Mark Brabbs on drums play covers from ZZ Top, Foo Fighters, The Police, Thin Lizzy and the like.

It all kicks off from 10pm.

Staying with Jaks, on Saturday you’ll be able to see new band Lazy Daze treading the boards there.

Featuring a line-up made up by John Ruscoe on vocals and guitar, Lewis Moon on bass and Andy James on drums, the band pulls out a setlist featuring covers from the likes of The Stone Roses, Ocean Colour Scene, the Stereophonics, the Jam and more.

The band kick things off from 10pm.

Finally this week, Final Cut head to The Quid’s Inn on Friday night.

The band is very much a regular fixture on the Manx live scene and features Ian Astill on guitar and vocals, Luke Chambers on bass and Ross Doyle on drums. Together as a rock and blues power trio, the band pull out a set that features both covers and their own original tracks.

Influence wise think Joe Bonamassa, The Eagles, The Police, Radiohead, Muse and Thin Lizzy and you’ll be very much in the right ball park.

That’s just a small amount of what’s happening this weekend, but honourable mention for other gigs goes to Alex Harris who appears at The Bowling Green in Douglas on Friday, Bird and The Beards at the aforementioned Quid’s Inn on Saturday, Fugue State at The Railway in Douglas on Saturday night and Ian Thompson at the Creek in Peel on Friday night.
