First up this week the folks at Manx Punx kick off their first event of the year with the UK punk rock band Unholy Alliance.
Hitting the UK Punk scene in 2018, supporting the likes of The Cockney Rejects, Unholy Alliance is made up of ex-members of English Dogs, and released ’No Dogs Allowed’, in 2019.
If you like your Punk with a political edge and a slab of heavy distortion then this is for you.
The band heads to Manx shores for two gigs this weekend, notably tomorrow night (Friday) at The Queens Hotel in Laxey and then at The Rovers in Douglas on Saturday night,
Support on both nights comes from Manx punk rockers Crotch Lice with Half Naked Headline on Friday and then Mad Daddy on Saturday in Douglas.
According to Manx Punx chief and Crotch Lice front man Mike Cowley: ’If you like your punk on the political side with heavy distortion then you will enjoy the energetic onslaught that is Unholy Alliance’.
Both nights are free entry and the doors open at 8pm.
Incidently, Mad Daddy will be unveiling their new line up at the weekend.
Drummer Matt Twist and guitarist Liam Callow will be joining singer Dolyn Clucas Morris and bassist Elvis Palooka.
Elsewhere The Quids Inn, Douglas, host the second annual battle of the bands.
Taking place throughout the next month, tomorrow night (Friday) sees heat one get things under way, with top local rock groups The Clown Calls For War, Warbird and The Boneyard all scrapping it out to make it through to the grand final, which is on April 3.

Next we head to The Manor in Douglas where Bon Jovi tribute band, Bon Jelski head out on Friday night.
Bon Jelski, made up of members of Pigs On The Wing, 995, Barefoot Revolution and Jester’s Dead, pull out a set that delves deep and across all eras of the 80s and 90s Bon Jovi back catalogue.
Expect earlier career cuts like Runaway, Living On A Prayer, You Give Love A Bad Name, I’ll Be There For You and Bed Of Roses to the later cuts like It’s My Life, Someday I’ll Be Saturday Night, In The Arms and These Days.
It’s free entry and the band hit the stage for a two hour set from around 9.15pm.
Finally this week, tomorrow night (Friday) you can catch the musical beast that is Bruises in action at Compton Vaults, Castletown.
I don’t have much information on these guys, but from what I’ve seen, it’s nice and heavy. Simple as that.
Band members Crim, Nell, Glenn and Brian make sure of that.
You can check out some live and rehearsal video of the band on the ’Bruises IOM’ Facebook page.
Support for this gig come from Raine. In 2018, Vocalist and Guitarist, Suzy Manton teamed up with Martyn Cain of Post War Stories for bass duties.
Genre and influence wise think dark jazz and folk and influences range from Daughter, Ben Howard and Postmodern Jukebox.
The set includes a number of self penned originals alongside alternative and eclectic versions of well known songs.
