It’s all about new releases of local music this week.

Feill Reen is a name that won’t be on your lips yet.

That said, this is a brand new project to hit the Manx music scene and one that delves into all things electronic.

Headed up by producer Brian Thomson, who creates music under the alias of Raumstadt, and singer songwriter, Paul Short, the band has been writing together for about a year now.

Influence-wise think Cabaret Voltaire, Joy Division, New Order, Talk Talk; Eurythmics and Depeche Mode and you’ve pretty much hit the nail on the head.

Their debut single ’The Night’ will be released with two versions, the original mix and an instrumental Dub remix.

It is well worth checking out, and more details about the band and single can be found at the Feill Reen Facebook page

Talking of new music, the good folks at Small Bear Records have announced some further releases under their imprint.

They are headed up by Marie Reynolds and Kieran Ball of Postcode fame on vocals and guitar respectively and joined by Martyn Cain of Post War Stories on bass and well, myself on drums, and the band is set to release their first recorded offering this week via the Manx based label.
