You may have heard the name Suzy Manton via various acoustic nights that take place on and around the island.
The guitarist and vocalist is set to become somewhat more of a regular fixture on the Manx live scene having formed a band in order to showcase her music.
Having teamed up with Martyn Cain of Post War Stories and 995 fame for bass duties and Martin Rigby, previously of Postcode and The Southern Audio Conspiracy, keeping it all together on drums, the musical partnership goes under the moniker of Raine.
Indeed, Suzy and Martyn from the band ventured across the water to Liverpool for a couple of acoustic shows last week and were also present at The Villa Marina arcade.
Genre and influence wise, think dark jazz and folk and influences range from Daughter, Ben Howard and Postmodern Jukebox. The set includes a number of self penned originals alongside alternative versions of well known songs from Rihanna, Guns * Roses, Nirvana,Therapy?, Van Morrison, Iron Maiden and even Dolly Parton and Britney Spears. Yes, you heard that right! An eclectic mix for your ears.
The band is out fort two shows this weekend at The Railway in Douglas on Friday night and they then head to the new Basement Sports Lounge and Lounge in the basement of Havana in Douglas on Saturday night.
