Manx Telecom engineers are working to restore fixed line numbers.
Noble’s Hospital, the 999 service, Government departments, Manx Telecom headquarters and a number of local businesses are all affected.
In a statement, Manx Telecom said: ’We can confirm that from 8.35am this morning, Manx Telecom experienced an issue affecting calls to a range of fixed line numbers.
’The outage was caused by failed ISDN circuits and impacted calls to Isle of Man government departments, Noble’s Hospital, the 999 service, Manx Telecom HQ and a number of other local businesses that have reported problems.’
It continues: ’We regret that this situation has occurred and we responded immediately by invoking our 999 divert plan.
’Engineers continue to resolve the situation affecting all other fixed lines as soon as possible.
’We are dedicated to minimising disruptions and are making every effort to restore availability.’
Manx Telecom says ’further details will be made available when possible’.
