One of the island’s most popular groups had the crowd jumping at a recent festival, held in the UK.

The local group the Fecktones made an appearance at the Green Gathering festival, which was held in Chepstow at the beginning of August.

The Fecktones, who are led by singer and multi-instrumentalist Andy North and feature violin-player Paul Rogers, guitarist Gary Quilliam, bassist Lee Brooks, percussionist Gerry Quinn and trumpet player Will Tramman-Kuskokwim, made a headline appearance at the Triban stage, and soon had the crowd bouncing and dancing to their mix of sea shanties and gypsy, ska and Manx-folk-inspired music.

The Green Gathering is a festival of music, arts, culture and community activities and events, and is run along environmentally-themed principles and ethics.

There was another Manx presence in the craft area of the festival, with an area run by wool and textile artist Sue Quilliam, who runs the Glen Mooar Cottage retreat in Tholt y Will.

She ran a craft tent, which allowed people to come and make their own bracelets and jewellery.

Sue, who also ran a similar tent at this year’s Glastonbury festival, said both she and the band were overwhelmed with how the weekend went.

’We had a fantastic workshop space at this year’s festival, and the gig at the Green Gathering was far beyond any of us expected,’ said Sue.

’We were all buzzing!’
