People flocked to Port Erin beach on Saturday and Sunday for the Festival of the Beach and Sea.

The popular event, sponsored by Hartford Homes, featured family activities and sports, including beach races and a sandcastle competition.

There were bouncy castles, beach sports and football, Scrufts dog show, junior dinghy racing, kite flying and a giant water slide.

Jamie’s Cheesy Disco and Switch! entertained the crowds from the stage.

For the really competitive there were open water swimming races, one and two laps of the bay. The one-lap race was won by Jack Burgess and the two-lap race by Sophie Casson.

As well as all the fun and games, the event also put the focus on conserving the wealth of marine life around our coast.

The Manx Wildlife Trust marquee by the old marine labs featured their ever-popular marine mega tanks where children could encounter many of our indigenous species such as starfish, crabs and other wonderful sea creatures.

Other wildlife attractions that were on display for visitors included a Wilder Future environmental exhibition and a marine nature reserves video tour game. Attractions also included Heroes on the Water kayaks, the model boat club, segways, paddleboarding and Discover Diving.
