Manx ex-pat Paula Wall may no longer live in the Isle of Man but it didn’t stop her from celebrating Tynwald Day.

Paula, who moved from the island many years ago and now lives in Gozo in Malta, proudly displayed her Manx flag on the outside of the home, which she shares with her 15-year-old Manx cat, appropriately named Vannin.

’You can take the girl out of the Isle of Man but you can’t take the Isle of Man out of the girl,’ Paula said.

’I moved away many years ago but wherever I go I take the Manx flag with me.’

Paula (nee Warren) was born in Glen Duff Cottage in 1963.

Her grandparents, the Garretts, were the last people to live permanently on the Calf of Man.

Her two sisters, Linda and Janet, still live in the island.

Paula said that she has fond memories of celebrating Tynwald Day.

’July 5, Tynwald Day. I remember it well, having a great day out with my granny Nelly Simpson and my uncle George Simpson, who lived out at The Garey, Lezayre. Bless they have both passed now,’ Paula said.

There will be more pictures from the day in Tuesday’s Isle of Man Examiner.
