There will be gale force winds this afternoon, the Met Office has warned.
The day will begin dry but outbreaks of rain will develop mid to late morning onwards and will be heavy at times.
The brisk southwest winds become strong to gale force this afternoon. Top temperature around 12 Celsius.
There will be some overtopping of sea water and debris onto exposed coastal roads and windward promenades at lunchtime and more at high tide tonight, with gale force south-southwest winds and heavy rain at times.
The rain will clear away late in the night.
Tomorrow there will be bright or sunny intervals with strong west-northwest winds.
Scattered showers will develop later in the day, turning increasingly wintry at night. Top temperatures around 8 Celsius at first on Thursday but turning colder during the day.
It will be very cold on Friday with strong northwest winds bringing hail or snow showers, possibly heavy at times, and they may become frequent in places.
Temperatures only about 4°C at best, but near freezing point on high ground with ice on any untreated surfaces.
