Michael Garrett’s gladioli won best in show at Cronk y Voddy Ploughing Society’s annual produce show.

The event took place at Ballakaighen Farm, at Cronk y Voddy on Thursday and saw more than 600 entries.

One of the highlights of the show is the big spud weigh-in, where anxious crowd gathers to see who has grown the most potatoes in a 30-litre tub since potato seeds were planted in March.

The competition was won by Leslie Halsall, who grew 17.75lbs (8.05kg) of potatoes.

The show was opened by Captain of the Parish Allen Corlett. After the judging, the produce was auctioned off with proceeds going to Crossroads Care.
