The Millennium Bridge that links Douglas’ north and south quays will close tonight for emergency repairs.

A Department of Infrastructure statement said the bridge will shut from 8pm tonight (Wednesday) until no later than 6am tomorrow (Thursday November 28).

The DoI said this is ’ to allow for emergency repairs to its operating system’.

The bridge was previously closed to road and vessel traffic at various times between Monday August 19 and Sunday October 13 2019.

At that time, it was closed between midnight and 6am to allow for work to remove the flap gate, which retains water in the inner harbour, and install ’stop logs’ to maintain the water level as well as work on the bridge’s towers.
