Comedian George Fouracres has hilariously demanded the Isle of Man be put on a map during a live television appearance on Saturday Night Live UK.

The actor took aim at the show's Weekend Update presenters after appearing as a 'concerned cartographer' in Saturday's (October 10) broadcast.

Fouracres, who plays a regular role in the Sky comedy show's cast, interrupted presenters Paddy Young and Ania Magliano to point out that a large map behind the desk had left the island out.

'You've missed the Isle of Man off,' he told Young, pointing to the space between Britain and Ireland.

'There's a whacking great island there. The Isle of Man, the Crown Dependency. You missed it off, Paddy.'

The sketch began with a discussion about a United Nations vote to update the standard world map to reflect the true size of Africa, before Fouracres turned the conversation towards the island.

He challenged the suggestion that the omission was unimportant, asking whether the Manx people, the island's tailless cats and Tynwald, described in the sketch as the world's oldest continuously running parliament, were not important either.

Young then asked whether Fouracres' outburst was really about the island or because he had not appeared in many other sketches that week.

The comedian dismissed the suggestion, before revealing it was his birthday and his family had travelled down from Wolverhampton to watch him perform.

He also joked that he had expected to act alongside guest star Danny Dyer but would instead be left 'vaguely near him at the end, waving like a w*nker'.

Returning to his main demand, Fouracres told Young to look him in the eyes and insisted: 'Get the Isle of Man on that map, Paddy.'

The appearance has given the island a moment in the spotlight on the live comedy show, which is the British adaptation of the long-running American Saturday Night Live format.

The moment was spotted by Foxdale resident Scott Kermeen, who told Isle of Man Today that George Fouracres was ‘a new Manx hero’.

Fouracres is among the returning cast members for the programme's second series, which began in September.

The show airs on Sky and is available to stream on NOW.
