A motorcyclist is being treated in hospital in Aintree, Liverpool, after a serious accident on the main road between Douglas and Peel last night.

It happened at about 6.45pm outside the Hawthorn public house in Greeba.

The collision involved a blue Suzuki motorcycle ridden by a 28-year-old man from St John’s and a blue Mercedes car, driven by a 59-year-old woman from Ballaugh.

Both vehicles were travelling towards Douglas.

Detective Sergeant Alan Shimmin said: ’We would like to hear from any witnesses to the collision or the lead up to it.

’I would also like to thank the members of public who assisted the police and ambulance at the scene.’
