Manx police have issued a fine to the owner of a BAC Mono for the lack of a front registration plate.
Police announced the fixed penalty notice was issued to the cars owner after a distinct warning was given last week over the legality of the vehicles.
The post on the road policing unit Facebook page said: ’Nice car, but no front registration plate fixed. No exemptions. Fixed penalty notice issued.’
The fine was met with criticism by some followers of the page, but the police were quick to point out, the group, which arrived in the island on Thursday, May 3 had received a briefing which included a warning over number plates.
That message was also shared on social media ’A reminder that all cars on the island need to be displaying front number plates, including super cars. Seems a load have just come off the boat missing theirs.’
Responding to claims on social media that the owners of the cars had been singled out, the road policing unit highlighted it has had trouble with the visitors before and if made aware, the police will issue penalty notices to any car without registration plates.
’They will have their UK plates with them and have simply removed them to "make it look nicer". Forces in the UK will be equally unimpressed.’
The driver of the BAC Mono, which is worth about £125,000 is in the island as part of a group event. The group arrived on the boat last Thursday afternoon.
