The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for sleet/snow and ice.
The forecast:
Outbreaks of sleet or snow at first this morning will soon move away to leave a mostly dry day with sunny intervals and isolated wintry showers with a strong north-northwest wind developing. Top temperature around 4 Celsius, but with some icy patches on high ground.
A cold but dry start on Wednesday, with some sunshine at first; moderate northwest winds swinging west to southwest into the afternoon to bring rain at times. Temperatures reaching 6 Celsius.
A little less cold on Thursday with just a small chance of showers.
