The Mountain Road will be closed for two evenings this week to allow essential maintenance work to take place ahead of the Festival of Motorcycling.

It will be closed from Ramsey Hairpin to the Creg-ny-Baa between 6.30pm and 10.30pm on Tuesday and Wednesday (August 7 and 8).

Hedge and verge trimming will be carried out to allow better visibility from the marshals’ shelters in addition to clearing gullies ahead of winter.

The Department for Enterprise’s motorsports group will use the opportunity to enable contractors to check the course, set up equipment and scaffold, and allow medical and other equipment to be placed in marshals’ shelters safely.

The Department of Infrastructure has apologised in advance for any inconvenience caused.
