Hundreds of dancers filled the stage at the Gaiety Theatre for a stunning and inventive show, hosted by one of the island’s dance schools.

The Move it dance school created their own dance show, entitled ’Move it Into the Woods’, which was performed over three shows last weekend, and brought together four very different fairy tales into one show, creating one eye-catching scene after another, and allowing their students to show off their considerable skills, performing a dizzying array of set piece dances in many different styles, performed by so many dancers of all ages, from two years old and upwards.

Helped by an impressive stage set up, featuring a giant video screen, the storylines moved with ease from Little Red Riding Hood, played with a lot of charm by 12-year-old Emma-Louise Taylor, to a swirling, fast-paced Arabian-themed take on Aladdin, played by Rio Osborne, 10, aided by Princess Jasmine, performed by Jordan Mark, 11.

Within the blink of an eye, the stage was transformed into an underwater set, featuring Ariel, the Little Mermaid, played by Katie Halsall, 11.

The final set piece featured a range of stunning dance pieces led by 11-year-old Aeryn Breed, as Snow White, and supported by a line of ghostly dancers dressed in white.

Kate Caine, from Move it, said: ’We are all still buzzing from the show, especially after receiving so many lovely comments from the audience.

’It’s been over a year in the making, and we would not have had such a fabulous show without the backstage army of volunteers, the dedicated Move It crew, and our sponsors SMP Partners. Kate also thanked Lousie Bowker for her videography, projected throughout the show.

Move It raised more than £1,300 for local charities.
