Even though the identity of the owners of the Castle Mona remains a mystery, work is under way at the former hotel.

JCK Construction has been putting up hoardings, replacing the long standing metal fencing. The ownership of, and intentions for, the landmark site remain unknown. The Castle Mona was sold at auction by the Sefton Group in May this year for £1.21m. The company bought it in 2007 for about £4m, but subsequently mothballed it.
