A number of trees have come down overnight due to high winds.

Two trees are blocking Grenaby Road on a blind bend. They fell at around 4:50pm yesterday according to police.

This was due to the high winds experienced last night after the government issued an amber weather warning.

Following assessment from the Department of Infrastructure yesterday evening, the road will remain closed into today so it can be dealt with in the daylight.

A tree is also blocking Old Castletown Road from Leigh terrace through to the Port Soderick Junction just before the Brewery.

This will also be attended to today.

In Laxey, a tree has come down on Minorca Hill.

Fire and rescue crews attended the scene last night to make the area safe.

The service warned residents in the area of possible power shortages while crews worked to resolve this.

In addition to these, there were reports of trees down at New Castletown Road, Ballaleece bridge and Ballamodha Road - all of which have now been cleared.

Another tree was cleared from St Jude's earlier yesterday evening.

Strang Road in Ballanowin is now open after another tree fell yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Mountain Road is now fully open.
