Two familiar faces are to make appearances on the island later this year, one who is continuing a now-traditional concert date and one, sadly, for the last time.
The island’s favourite wandering blues soul Davy Knowles will return to his native Port St Mary in December.
His concerts at the Port St Mary Town Hall in the days in between Christmas and new year have proved popular over the previous years, and this year he is appearing over two nights, on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 December.
He will be backed by his Manx backing band, featuring husband-and-wife team of Lindsay and Steve Rowe on keyboards and bass, and drummer Steve Leach.
Singer/Songwriter Mae Challis will provide the support.
Tickets for both nights are £25, available from triskelpromo.com
This will be also Davy’s first island concert as a married man, as he is to wed his fiancé Amber in America on December 7.
Promoter Lenny Conroy, from Triskel Promotions, who is bringing Davy to the island, is also to travel to the US to be Davy’s best man.
’Making me his Best Man next month will be fun if not a little nerve-wracking in front of his American friends,’ said Lenny. ’So it seemed fit to make him work when he arrives home newly-married in December.
’I know these Town Hall Sessions will be the musical highlight of my year.’
English folk singer/songwriter Chris TT is also being brought to the island by Triskel, and is appearing as part of his ’Farewell’ tour.
The firebrand singer, writer and activist announced, on the eve of his 20th anniversary, that he is to leave his singing career behind him and concentrate on other projects.
He will appear at Noa Bakehouse on Friday, November 17, with support from Jeff Jepson and DJ Gypo Buggane, who first brought Chris to the island.
’Chris approached me earlier this year announcing his desire to do a farewell tour so I was flattered he wanted to have Triskel put on one of his final ever shows,’ said Lenny. ’He’s a good friend to the Island, so we are really looking forward to something special.’
Tickets for Chris’ farewell show are £15, available from triskelpromo.com
