Foxtrap, the Liverpool-based electro-rock group featuring Manx singer Helen Morrison, have used their spare time to release a new single.
’Not Enough’ came out on Saturday, and is the band’s first new music since the release of their self-titled album last year.
Helen said the band were very excited about the release and describes ’Not Enough’ as an upbeat-sounding track with a lot of energy, but also a cathartic one for Helen, as it is written about a personal experience she went through.
’The song deals with the overwhelming pain that I experienced when I offered myself to another and was met with rejection,’ said Helen.
It also explores my subsequent internalisation of that rejection which led to feelings of low self-worth.
’I feel as though this kind of internalisation is really unhelpful and self-destructive but is also far more common than it should be.’
Helen said that the group are relishing the lockdown period, as it has allowed them to focus on the band’s sound and direction, and that they hope to have a new album produced and released by 2021.
However, it did mean that a busy year of gigging had to be cancelled, including a busy TT fortnight.
’We had nine gigs booked!’ said Helen.
’TT is our favourite time of the year and we love returning home to perform and immerse ourselves in the TT experience.
’So, we are deeply saddened that TT has been cancelled.
’However, we recognise that this was the most ethical decision that the government could have made, and we respect and admire them for putting the lives of the public first.’
’Not Enough’ is available on all major streaming platforms and from the Foxtrap Bandcamp page.
