Work on a new reservoir in the north of the island is expected to be finished next month.
Manx Utilities has provided an update on the construction of the new Jurby Service Reservoir which is now entering the final stages.
The project aims to improve resilience for existing homes and businesses, support future development and provide the required fire-fighting storage for the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service.
In the update Manx Utilities says: ‘Construction of the new Jurby Service Reservoir is entering its final stages, with completion expected in early October.
‘The project has made significant progress in recent weeks and will provide greater resilience for existing homes and businesses in the north of the island, support future development and community growth, and provide the required fire-fighting water storage for the Isle of Man Fire & Rescue Service.
‘Recent work on site has included completion of the reservoir embankments, installation of roof coverings and drainage systems, construction of access stairs and safety handrails, and installation of monitoring equipment.
‘The first reservoir cell has now been cleaned, chlorinated and is being filled with water as part of the commissioning process.’
Manx Utilities says the work has been progressing smoothly although the original target for completion had been August this year.
The spokesperson added: ‘The project remains on budget, with final landscaping and commissioning activities continuing ahead of handover. No health and safety incidents have been reported during the latest phase of construction.
‘As work progresses towards completion, we would like to thank local residents and the wider community for their continued patience and support while these important improvements are delivered.’
