The National Sports Centre and all government offices will close early today due to the snowy conditions.

The NSC will close from 2pm today, for the rest of the day.

All public sessions and bookings are cancelled, for indoor and outdoor facilities at the NSC. Regional astro turf bookings are also cancelled.

The complex will remain closed on Saturday morning until 10.30am at the earliest.

Saturday morning bookings at all facilities are therefore cancelled.

A decision on re-opening will be made before 10.30am and posted on social media feeds.

The NSC is usually open until late evening weekdays, and staff travel to Douglas from around the island; the decision to close early has been made with their safety travelling home in mind.

All Government offices will close from 3pm today.

Although all major routes are currently passable with care, the latest forecast from the Meteorological Office indicates that snow showers will continue on and off all day and into the weekend.

Non-essential staff have been advised to leave work today in sufficient time to arrive home before dark.

Members of the public are advised to keep up to date with the weather reports on media and avoid non-essential journeys.
