Castletown is set to see the number of charging points for electric vehicles triple.
Following discussions between Manx Utilities and the town’s commissioners, a further four EV chargers will be installed in the ancient capital.
Two connection points will be introduced to the George Paddock car park, while those in the short stay on Chapel Lane will be upgraded to four.
Commissioners say it comes after the existing facilities near to the Old Grammar School have proven popular.
Manx Utilities, which maintains over 20 EV chargers across the island, announced in March that it would be partnering with Pod Point, one of the UK’s largest providers of electric vehicle charging.
The government wants to see the uptake of EVs increase by 4000% over the next decade, from the 250 which are currently registered in the island to 10,000.
