The experienced Neil Parsons added another accolade to his shooting career as he clinched the Universal Trench Manx Championship at Ayre Clay Target Club last Sunday.

The Laxey shooter hit a superb 97 out of 100 to claim the title and set a new Isle of Man record in the process.

That sealed another Manx title as he finished two shots clear of Dave ’Wilfy’ Walton (95) with Alan Wade a further three back (92) in third place.

Arran Wade took the junior prize with an overall score of 78.

There was no denying Walton the following day as he finished top of the shop in the Olympic Trap Manx Championship and first Island Games selection shoot for the discipline.

His 88 was two ahead of Mark Riley with Alan Wade (83) again in third spot, only one shot clear of Parsons. Again, Arran Wade was the leading junior with 73.

The first 50 also doubled up as the fifth round of the Olympic Trap summer league which Walton won with 46.

Results: Universal Trench Manx Championship 1, Neil Parsons 97; 2, Wilfy Walton 95; 3, Alan Wade 92. Junior Arran Wade 78.
